Wellington UniVentures supports commercially curious academics to learn what it takes to become entrepreneurs through the Emerging Innovator programme.

The programme, run by KiwiNet, teaches academics the language of commercialisation, equips them with skills in market analysis, IP and securing investment, and expands their professional networks.

CEO Pierre Malou says that Wellington UniVentures actively seeks out Victoria University researchers who could benefit from the programme.

“We’re keen to support researchers who have a project or innovation in mind that they’d like to commercialise, but need to build the knowledge and networks necessary to take the next steps.”

Wellington UniVentures nominates researchers for the programme each quarter, and Pierre says he was pleased to see all three nominees accepted.

“Congratulations to the successful nominees, whose projects range from treatment for rare diseases and novel techniques for drug discovery, to superconducting flux pumps. We’re excited to see where this opportunity takes them.”
