Wellington UniVentures' nominees announced as finalists for 2023 KiwiNet Awards

Three Wellington UniVentures' nominees were this week announced as finalists in KiwiNet's annual Research Commercialisation Awards. 

The successful nominees include: 

Professor Rodney Badcock from Paihau-Robinson Research Institute: Building an emerging clean tech economy taking NZ's expertise in superconducting technology to the world. Shortlisted for the Researcher Entrepreneur award.  

XFrame & WellingtonUniVentures: Led by Ged Finch, alumnus from Victoria University of Wellington, XFrame is creating reusable framing for the next generation of sustainable construction. A finalist in the Commercialisation Impact category.

Kevin Sheehy from The MacDiarmid Institute: Effective support for deep tech entrepreneurs, start-ups, and the ecosystem. Shortlisted for the Commercialisation Professional category.

 Wellington UniVentures' Acting CEO Pierre Malou warmly welcomed the announcement. 

"The KiwiNet Awards are always one of the highlights of our year. We're particularly proud to see three Wellington UniVentures' nominees represented in the shortlist of research commercialisation heroes in this year's ceremony. 

"We congratulate all of this year's finalists and look forward to celebrating with them and the entire commercialisation whanau at the awards ceremony later this month," Pierre said.

The KiwiNet Awards are the biggest national event for the research commercialisation sector, bringing our community together to connect, showcase successes, and inspire those around us. This year's award night will take place 28 September in Auckland.
