Albert works closely with the world-renowned Robinson Research Institute within Te Herenga Waka – Victoria University of Wellington that specialises in using superconducting technologies to drive electrification of aircrafts and mass transport, among other applications. Albert supports the Institute to identify commercialisation opportunities and industry partnerships, and helps guide the research towards commercial ends.
Albert brings a wealth of international knowledge and experience in commercialisation. Originally from Catalonia, he gained a bachelor's in biology from Pompeu Fabra University, followed by a masters in biomedical sciences from Maastricht University in the Netherlands. He continued his academic career, gaining a PhD in biomedicine at the Institute for Biomedical Research of Barcelona.
After graduating, he joined the business development unit of the Biomedical Research Institute of Girona, first as a research project manager, then as the innovation and technology transfer officer and finally as the manager of the Innovation and Technology Transfer unit.
Albert joined Wellington UniVentures in 2023, after moving to New Zealand from Catalonia. He loves that he gets to continue working in a university setting, learning about the latest scientific advancements and helping innovators transfer their research from lab to market.
When he's not at work, Albert hikes, swims, cooks, and continues his hunt for a good Catalan restaurant.
